Weddings By Request: The Fruits of the Spirit Ceremony + Video

In honor of our 50th wedding day, we’re inaugurating our Weddings By Request video series! The idea for Wedding #50 comes from Janice Masters, who suggested a fruit salad inspired wedding, where each fruit represents a different vow. (It’s a fruit themed week, I guess.)

When we took stock of what was in the kitchen, we realized we had nine different fruits: exactly the number of fruits of the spirit.

Love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.

It’s a combination we both believe in, despite not sharing a common faith, and we liked the idea of weaving old traditions into our new wedding concept.

We divided the nine fruits of the spirit between us according to which fruits we felt came most naturally to us. Roberto took peace (plum), patience (apple), gentleness (watermelon), goodness (strawberry), and self control (canteloupe). I took love (orange), joy (kiwi), kindness (peaches), and faithfulness (banana).

Want to know what we did next? You’ll just have to watch the video:

Thank you to Janice Masters for inspiring our 50th wedding! Got an idea for our next Wedding By Request? Leave us a comment below with your thoughts!
